Can you give me some background on Sally’s history?

Sally’s brand of bagged cereals was launched in Canada by the Malt-O-Meal Company in August 2011. In 2015, Sally’s became a part of the Post Consumer Brands family under Post Holdings, Inc.

How do I read the code date on my Sally’s cereal bag?

All Sally’s cereals have a code (or “Best Before”) date on the lower back side of the bag. For example, if the code date reads “01JN2017,” the corresponding “Best Before” date is June 1, 2017. By referring to the Best Before date you can be sure the product you’ve chosen is at peak freshness at the time of purchase and for a reasonable period of time thereafter, when stored unopened in a cool, dry place. We cannot guarantee the freshness past the Best Before date code.

Is it safe to eat your cereal when it has passed its ‘Best Before’ date?

We cannot guarantee product quality after the Best Before date. Always do your own due diligence in determining if the unopened product meets your standard of acceptance.

How should I store my Sally’s cereal once I’ve opened it?

Every Sally’s cereal bag comes with a re-sealable feature to help keep your cereals tasting fresher for longer. In general, we recommend you keep our cereals in a cool, dry place.

Are your cereal products Kosher certified?

Many of our cereal products are Kosher certified. If the product you are interested in is Kosher certified, its packaging will reflect its certification status and category. Kosher certifications may change over time, so the best way to determine a product’s Kosher status is to look at the front of the package. Our product packages will always reflect the most current information.

What is your allergen labeling policy?

We understand and share the concerns expressed by consumers who are affected by food allergies and intolerances. Food Allergic consumers and consumers with food intolerances should rely on our package ingredient labels for the most accurate information on a product. If a product contains any of the ten priority allergens listed below, it will be clearly listed in bold print in the Allergen Statement following the ingredient declaration.

The Ten Priority Allergens are: Peanuts, Tree Nuts (almonds, Brazil nuts, cashews, hazelnuts (filberts), macadamia nuts, pecans, pine nuts, pistachios and walnuts), Sesame, Mustard, Milk, Eggs, Seafood (Fish, Crustaceans and Shellfish), Soy, Wheat & Sulphites (a food additive). Also declared will be sources of Gluten protein from barley, oats, rye, triticale or wheat (or a hybridized strain of any of these cereal grains). Please consult Health Canada’s Food Allergies & Intolerances website for more consumer information on food allergens and intolerances.

What is the source of gelatin in your products?

The gelatin we use in some of our products is derived from pork. If you are looking to avoid gelatin from animal sources, please look for the Kosher symbol.

Are your cereal bags recyclable?

No, we currently use the lowest density poly material proven (the bags are made out of reverse printed OPP lamination) to keep our cereals safe and fresh. Unfortunately, this poly material is not recyclable and therefore, does not have a recycling symbol. We continue to review any new packaging materials that become available to us. When it comes to the packaging of our products, our first priority is to provide consumers with safe and fresh products. The polyethylene bags we use provide our customers with wholesome, quality products without the high cost of traditional cereal packaging materials.

However, we have partnered with TerraCycle® so that consumers can “upcycle” our cereal bags. In a nutshell, here’s how it works. Sign up for the Cereal Bag Brigade ( and every time you enjoy a bag of cereal, save the cereal bag to send it in. TerraCycle will convert the bags into fun and innovative products including tote bags, park benches and much more. For each cereal bag shipment of over 5 lbs that is sent to TerraCycle, you will be awarded TerraCycle points, which can be redeemed for a payment of $0.02 per bag for your school or non-profit organization. Participation is completely free!
